Dakar is the capital and largest city of Senegal. It is located on the Cap-Vert Peninsula on the Atlantic coast and is the westernmost city on the African mainland. Its position, on the western edge of Africa, is an advantageous departure point for trans-Atlantic and European trade; this fact aided its growth into a major regional port. According to December 31, 2005 official estimates, the city of Dakar proper has a population of 1,030,594, whereas the population of the Dakar metropolitan area is estimated at 2.45 million people. Dakar is a major administrative centre, home to the National Assembly of Senegal and Senegal's President's Palace. The Gambia's President-elect Adama Barrow says he will be sworn in at the country's embassy in neighbouring Senegal, as regional forces massed at the border to force incumbent Yahya Jammeh to quit after his election defeat. In messages posted on his social media accounts, Barrow said that the inauguration was going to take place as scheduled on Thursday in the Senegalese capital, Dakar. #President_Barrow is silent and waiting for the opportune moment to show everyone that he is mature enough, very cultured, intelligent that's why he is head of state, that nobody is wrong. All talk about their party and forget that there is a President who has to build a strong, stable and safe Gambia and will not be done in 2 days. Now we know that they are not preparing the parliamentary elections but th...

Senegal is constructing a new city near the town of Diamniadio in a bid to de-congest the seaside capital, Dakar. Plans include a new airport, university and a 50-hectare industrial park funded by China. The infrastructure project is one of the biggest for president Macky Sall, who has pledged to double growth by 2020.

I spent the past month in Senegal, Africa. And best way to describe my experience would be “magical”. I have never experienced an abundance of love, compassion, life, and happiness in so little time. Every place that I have travelled keeps a special place in my heart but Senegal holds so much. I will NEVER forget the people, the experience or the laughter that I had. So I have created a video to share with you all and I hope that you guys can just start to feel the magic by just watching it. Enjoy!

Senegal is one of West Africa's most popular destinations. It is located in Western Africa, bordering the North Atlantic Ocean, between Guinea-Bissau and Mauritania. It covers an area of 196,190 sq km (about half the size of Sweden and slightly smaller than South Dakota). Senegal is culturally rich, famous for its excellent musicians and story tellers. There are fine beaches, pretty colonial towns, lagoons and rivers to explore and much more. The capital Dakar is a vibrant, lively city with plenty of commerce and plenty for the tourist or business traveller to see and do.
Senegal’s capital has more than tripled in population in the past 40 years, and the government says it is time to retire the city’s most iconic, and colorful, mode of public transportation, the car rapide. The Executive Council for Urban Transport in Dakar says it will replace the decades-old vehicles with more modern buses by 2018. Ricci Shryock reports.
Diamniadio Lake City (DLC) is the vibrant new heart of Diamniadio in Senegal. It’s a city within the city and the capital’s jewel in the crown given its national significance. As Dakar’s rising main residential, business and leisure destination, it offers the highest quality services and recreational facilities. A unique landmark development in Africa, DLC ushers in a new era for the country and continent at large. DLC mixed use development rises on a plot spanning more than 500,000 sq meters and realizes the vision to create financial, residential and recreational districts that harmoniously come together to drive Senegal’s future. More than a business valley in the traditional sense, DLC is a hub for work, living, dinning, shopping, fitness, and leisure.
Global Thrift Store (2014): In Senegal, cotton fields stretch as far as the eye can see. Yet this natural wealth is increasingly overlooked in favour of used foreign imports as the country experiences a boom in second-hand trading from Europe. There's a new fast food venture in Senegal's capital Dakar, which seeks to provide healthy meals to patrons in a clean environment. Known as “Tangus”, the food service so far has 25 outlets in almost all the districts of the Senegalese capital where it serves a variety of meals including hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches and hot and cold drinks. CEO of Tangus, Emile Almalem told Africanews he decided to build the franchise because he realized “that more and more Senegalese ate out”. But he als… READ MORE : http://www.africanews.com/2016/08/29/tangus-fever-spreads-among-residents-of-senegal-s-capital Africanews is a new pan-African media pioneering multilingual and independent news telling expertise in Sub-Saharan Africa.
